kVA Rating Question

help me out !

a phase ,50 hz ,6600v ,alternator is rated at 6600kw..

what is kva rating ?

Whoever marked this comment as "off topic", cannot understand the finer points of punctuation....The statement is correct and on topic!

That being said, ones command and comprehension of said language, does ultimately depend on how and when the correct comma, period, and exclamation marks are placed.

Mastery of that skill, while not easy, can be mastered by reading any English book, and I will hazard a guess that the OP copied from a text book, STILL manged to get it wrong!

It depends on what power factor has been allowed for in its design. If 0.80, 6600/0.80 = 8250.

Dear Friend,

The Alternator Manufacturer could have given the POWER FACTOR in the name plate. Devide KW (In your case it is 6600 KW) by the Power Factor. That will give you KVA. Generally P.F will be 0.8, hence your Alternator KVA is 6600/0.8 = 8250.
