For weight per foot of round bar, multiply the density (about 0.285 lb/in3 for 304, and about 0.283 lb/in3 for EN9) by 12 πr2. 'r' is the radius of the bar in inches.

REALLY???

Weight times volume gives the density of any material.

THAT AIN'T ROCKET SCIENCE.

Weight divided by volume = density (as I'm sure you know). What he needs is weight = volume times density

Yep, I meant to say volume x density.

Wasn't paying attention to the inane question anyway.

The funny thing (aside from your amusing foray into rocket surgery/ brain science) is that the OP isn't asking for weight, density, or volume. The answer has the same units as surface tension.

Weight per unit length of EN9 steel round bar

Density = 490 lbf/ft³ OR 0,284 lbf/in³

Volume = πd²/4 x L ['d' is the bar's diameter: L is its length

Weight per unit length of stainless steel grade 304L

Density = 500 lbf/ft³ OR 0,289 lbf/in³

Volume = π.(D²-d²)/4 x L ['D' is the pipe's external diameter: 'd' is the internal diameter: L is the length

I leave it up you, A.P. No1 to figure out the rest.

Since we are not making Swiss watches here, the densities are sufficiently accurate.

A.P. No1: Do not pay any attention to these Philistines of the engineering world; they have their heads so far up their own southward-pointing orifices, they have forgotten - or display the like - that they too had to start at the beginning knowing bugger-all.
