My advice to you is to aquire the various standards and out forth the effort to compare them, one with another. I do not believe the single document you want exisits, yet.

Done properly, you likely could sell it.

I am not aware of any single document, and even if there were it would likely be obsolete (standards are revised on a regular basis).

What the rest of us do is purchase the standards, read them and then do the comparison ourselves. A bit expensive and a lot of work I know, but that is what has to happen.

For simple, short questions or comparisons between small sections of the standards you may find something on the internet or get someone here to give you an answer, but you will still need copies of the standards to back up your claims/suggestions/design/etc. If this is too difficult you could work with a consultancy and get them to advise you but that would be expensive.

If the next question is where to find the standards for free, you need to purchase them from the standards websites.

That's odd. So does Anonymous Poster #1.

A reference book comparing the various standards is liable to be bigger that all the originals.

Don't be so tight, if you need them for your work, you have to pay and also do the legwork resolving the differences.

If to be specific I need the IS & IEC equivalent for the below:

BS IEC 60076-8 General
BS EN 62271-1 General definitions, Design and construction and testing
BS 6480 Lead Sheathed cables for working voltages to 33kV
BS ISO 3046-3 Test Measurement
BS 5514 Part 6 Overspeed protection
BS 4999 Part 144 Testing of insulation of bars and coils of high voltage machine
BS EN 60269-1 Low voltage fuses general requirements
BS 7671 Regulations for Electrical installations
BS EN 60898-1 Circuit breakers for over current protection
BS EN 61008-1 Residual current operated circuit breakers
BS 159 High Voltage busbars and busbar connections
BS 5486 Pt 11 Particular requirements of fuse-boards
BS 5486 Pt 12 Particular requirements of type tested miniature circuit breakers
BS 6231 PVC insulated cables for switchgear and control gear wiring
BS 6346 600/1000 volts and 1900/3300 volts armoured electric cables having PVC insulation

There were some more and I have figured out for them, but I am not able to get the equivalent for these.

Have you compared the specifications yourself?

Or, are you asking someone to provide the information for you?

  • Those standards beginning BS are only applicable to the UK and other countries that have chosen to adopt them; the Republic of Ireland is among them. The problem is that other countries have different voltages and frequencies, so the standards are going to be different. There are about 27 different styles of domestic plugs and sockets across the globe as a consequence - try Wikipedia for electrical distribution comparison across countries, and go from there, perhaps?
  • Anything with IEC is an international standard, therefore no comparison is available or applicable.
  • Anything with EN is a pan-Europe standard, as applicable in Denmark as it is in Portugal, for example.

Just to add to the complexity of comparing standards, most countries that adopt IEC standards do so with Deviations. So, a UK, German, Italian and Canadian version of the same IEC standard could be different in various sections.

Bottom line - what the OP wants is very difficult to accomplish and would be time sensitive.
