Hi Friends,

ACRYLIC GLASS THERMOFORMING & WELDING PROCESS

Can u tell us what are the way to make ACRYLIC GLASS THERMOFORMING & WELDING PROCESS for different shapes, then advantages & disadvantages in manufacturing the ACRYLIC GLASS tank.

Becomes soft when heating it. (flame, heat gun, oven)

Then you can form it over or in a mold. (for bigger pieces put this mold also in the oven) and use gloves (or burn your hands).

Welding is not very successful but there are good (invisible) glues available (Rohm-)

- advantage: light, easy to form, you see what is in the tank.

- disadvantage: chemicals, U.V. and heat are to avoid.

Nice link. I sometime cut Perspex Sheets used for LED displays but edges become rough and sometime crack. I like the idea of using a flame to smooth out rough edges. Some organic solvents may be good to soften and join and video looked very good one.

I have used drug-store chloroform dispensed with a syringe on the advice of my boss, a commercial designer from the UK. It made very effective welds.
