Wake up Yanks!

12/17/2013 12:40 PM

Holy UFOs, does it take a foreigner like me to remind you all of one of the greatest achievements by two of the greatest Americans that happened exactly 110 years ago to this day?

I would have hoped to hear from some of the top brass at say Boeing or GE at the very least paying tribute to the men they ultimately owe their fortunes to.

But I guess that's not gonna happen, they're all too busy suck-holing the Chinese.

So instead of waiting for that to happen please check out this amazing and convoluted story of what happened to the immortal craft in its amazing journey from Kitty Hawk to the here and now.

And thank you Wilbur and Orville for a truly awesome achievement!

Thanks for reminded us, as of lately we have bigger things to worry about.

But I do enjoyed Gordon Sinclair's article called "The Americans"

That was awesome, thank you, and seconded by me.

As far as I'm concerned the USA is by far the greatest nation ever conceived and therein lies its beauty, it was conceived, as an idea, an ideal, and no other nation can claim that distinction.

Other nations can claim you merely by the accident of you being born there but the concept of the USA has a grip on your intellect and that is a beautiful thing.

You will never see people giving up everything in their birth land to go and live in sh*t holes like China or Mexico, but the whole world wants to go and live in America because of that founding concept.

You have been reported. I would like to add that but for the United States of America, your pitiful little country would still be nothing but a jungle.

The company I work for was a part of the fly over festivities at the First In Flight Memorial at Kitty Hawk yesterday. The owner took our DC-3, Miss Virginia, down to take part and pay our corporate respects.

Good stuff!!

By shear coincidence, I visited a friend in North Carolina ten years ago this weekend. We visited Kitty Hawk on December 16 and were taken aback by the preparations for the festivities the next day.

At least it helps me remember the day now. :)

That's awesome.

It must have been great to be there and feel something of what the pioneering brothers felt that day.

It's definitely a neat place to visit. Also... That first flight was about 100 ft? And I can run it faster? Then, look up at a jet contrail.
