Hi thanks for response. It's difficult to explain but when turning it feeds for an inch or 2 then keeps jumping out of feed.

Either a bad lead screw or follower. It should be obvious, with some disassembly of the suspect assembly.

From Wiki:

Feed and lead screws[edit]

The feedscrew (H8) is a long driveshaft that allows a series of gears to drive the carriage mechanisms. These gears are located in the apron of the carriage. Both the feedscrew and leadscrew (H7) are driven by either the change gears (on the quadrant) or an intermediate gearbox known as a quick change gearbox (H6) or Norton gearbox. These intermediate gears allow the correct ratio and direction to be set for cutting threads or worm gears. Tumbler gears (operated by H5) are provided between the spindle and gear train along with a quadrant plate that enables a gear train of the correct ratio and direction to be introduced. This provides a constant relationship between the number of turns the spindle makes, to the number of turns the leadscrew makes. This ratio allows screwthreads to be cut on the workpiece without the aid of a die.

Some lathes have only one leadscrew that serves all carriage-moving purposes. For screw cutting, a half nut is engaged to be driven by the leadscrew's thread; and for general power feed, a key engages with a keyway cut into the leadscrew to drive a pinion along a rack that is mounted along the lathe bed.

Without knowing what you know about lathes, maybe this will help. The bold numbers in parenthesis are references to pictures in the Wiki piece.

Does it always happen in the same spot? or after the same amount of time/feed?

Sounds to me that the feed has been loaded beyond its capacity at one stage and and the corresponding teeth have failed at a specific point, general wear can be a factor, lack of lubrication, overload of drives, etc, once one tooth breaks off there is a possibility that it can jump in between drives and take out more teeth.

if its your own comment you want to retract, and you have not gone past your edit time, then you can edit the text away and leave a - or other character. Beyond that, I have asked about purging comments, they dont like to do that unless they are outside the usage rules. MAYBE a moderator would take pity if you ask them nice; I never tried.

As already said could be worn half nut on leadscrew or broken shear pin also on leadscrew. Is the saddle moving freely on the bed because if the bed is clogged up it may be forcing the half nuts apart due to friction. If the leadscrew isn't turning then its gears but the shear pin is there to protect them so would be unusual. May need stripping and cleaning.

Yes. The equipment manufacturers can, over the telephone. CR4 does not offer training in the use of either <...Ward 8 Turret Lathe...> or the telephone.
