As a slight OT aside, the left and right are also joining together in fighting Common Core.

Again, it's about control.

More on the indoctrination here:

Why could I not find any actual page this is printed on?

Does such a book exist or is it smoke, mirrors and nut bar agenda?

Why can I not find any solid evidence this exists? All the google searches go in tight little circles of web content all leading back to one guy. I smell a phoney baloney conspiracy theory....

I know that this isn't exactly proof. In the past, everything published by the government was open access...not so with common core. It is copyrighted, so access and use is limited.

http://www.corestandards.org/public-license

Seems odd, huh? We should all be able to review this wonderful new system.

The NGA Center for Best Practices (NGA Center) and the Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO) hereby grant a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to copy, publish, distribute, and display the Common Core State Standards for purposes that support the Common Core State Standards Initiative. These uses may involve the Common Core State Standards as a whole or selected excerpts or portions.

Since I obviously don't support this, I guess I just broke the law.

Great!

My modem/router is still kicking me offline at completely random times. The new one is still in the box, and I'm more scared than ever to hook it up.

I guess it's just a fact of life now...at least if you use anything electronic to communicate or use the internet.

I guess.

I got myself an OT earlier, but I wish I knew what they were after, and why.

I mean, hell; I might even be able to slightly understand it, if they went through everybody's stuff just long enough to know that they weren't connected to terrorism, and then crossed them off the list and left them alone. But they aren't doing that; what they are doing is perpetual, and stored for possible future use.

It's a sad chapter.

They found some bad guys in Mississauga about ten years ago because they noticed that they bought an unholy amount of fertilizer. (nine metric tons) OTOH, it was likely the merchant who turned them in. They used credit card info to close that case. Mind you...it was just as likely the police undercover sting....

A fine example of idiots in action.... but credit card info secured a conviction.

I don't know what to say. I think that all of us have contemplated murder at some point.

People that want to kill other people, will find a way to do it.

The only way to stop it completely, is for government to put each of us in individual cells.

I'm not a felon, and have had one DUI in 1996. My BAC was .09.

Give me a right to defend myself, and I won't be worried about terrorists and thugs.

Nobody in government is special. I can make the same decision on whether or not to use deadly force.

The government should be arming the law abiding citizens, and making them a part of the solution; not imposing gun laws that leave them defenseless.

It's not working.

If I could be sure you are not a nut bar.....I'm okay with your having a lethal weapon able to be used at any time. I personally THINK you are not a nut bar, but I know a lot of nut jobs, and they all seem to want or have lethal weapons. Remember...we tried to help in New Orleans, and it turned out they did not WANT any help, they just wanted us to go away so they could get on with their looting. A few shots over our heads proved that to me. I don't want to see assholes, gangstas and those with a serious mental illness have a weapon. Clearly this must be handled on a case by case basis, but it MUST be handled.

How does the right to bear arms solve the gangsta problem in Philly?

Yep. The entire focus should be on keeping guns out of the hands of criminals and insane people.

How does the right to bear arms solve the gangsta problem in Philly?

I was thinking about the crime problems in our large cities, where strict gun laws and disarming the innocent have proven to be a huge failure.

Here's what I would do...

I would eliminate the gun free zones and draconian gun laws, while keeping in place criminal backgrond checks.

Then I would offer gun giveaway programs. As long as they weren't evidence in a crime, confiscated guns would be given away to the public, or sold at a greatly reduced price.

The stipulation would be, that in order to get a gun, a person would not only have to have a clean record, but would have to go through a gun safety course, which would be provided by the city, and would include time at the firing range.

I honestly believe that we would see a decrease in crime, once the criminals know that there are thousands of responsible, legal gun owners around them.

Re: The NSA and Krams New Laptop

Laptop

I agree. It might work, or it might not. I think it "could" work until a feud starts, or gangsters band together to protect themselves. I was watching the "first 48" t'other day, and the detective asked the young mother "did he own a gun". Her answer was "of course , he's a man. Of course he has a gun". I thought that incident was quite telling.

In Canada, we simply do not HAVE a gun culture. My friends from Texas and Maryland (opposite ends of the country) held their keys in their fists as we walked to the brew pub in Kingston. It was down by the waterfront and in the middle of the day so not too many people around. Their fear was obvious. Yet the danger was virtually non-existant. About the same as, say, walking up and into the Metropolitan Museum of Art. One had a licence to carry...and said later that she would have held her hand on her gun instead of preparing herself with what she had...a handful of keys.

That fear, which I see in almost every US citizen is a flame that has been fanned by thousands of news reports and minor (and major) incidents. Canadians simply do not walk around with guns, and guess what...nobody gets shot.

Toronto has had its fair share of shootings, and gangstas have taken over the Dixon district and Jane Finch corridor. Yet police have destroyed at least two gangs, and are working on more. A no tolerance policy regarding guns, and registration of ANY hand gun has had a tolerably good effect. The screams of "I have a right to carry this gun" doesn't fly here....it just attracts attention from police who are happy to stop and frisk.

To get back on topic.... we don't have an NSA. We have the RCMP, and CSIS. We do not have a homeland security office...we don't need one...we have the RCMP who are actually the provincial police in nine of the eleven provinces. (I include Nunavit as a territorial province before y'all get upset at a perceived mistake) They know everything. And they have been raked over the coals twice in the last few years. The RCMP has amazing powers, yet normally they do not exercise them. The size of the US has nothing to do with what you can do if you let the cops do what they are good at. Don't give me any blather about corruption and the need to keep human rights intact...thats a smokescreen created by the defendant's lawyers. Cops will follow the rules. Those that don't are held accountable, but its not so bad even if it goes a little wrong... for example... gee...we took half a dozen guns off of that guy, and we got a dozen names. But we have to let him go because we think his lawyer will get him off. Oh well. At least there are a half dozen fewer guns in his gang's hands.

I don't pretend to know how to solve the gangsta problem in Philly. Its too big for a quick fix. Throwing them into jail does not seem to work. The US has the highest incarceration rate in the world. Doesnt seem to affect the crime rates. Why is THAT do you think? Me...I think it is the gun culture. Fix that, and you will fix your gang problem. Start by registration. Make sure you get a permit to inspect premises along with your registration. Then you have a bare minimum chance of keeping order.

The US was founded on "live liberty and happiness"

Canada was founded on "peace, order and good government".

Who kills more of their own citizens?

I know this flies in the face of a lot of people, but when you watch a mother weeping over her shot seventeen year old...you may have to make some hard decisions. Or just not care about a poor black kid from Detroit....but I am sure you DO care. What does your party plan to do about it?

Notice that here all the N.Americans are off the wall? No other nations involved....

I still say its basically down to the amendment:- The right to bear arms.

If someone was clever enough to bring the constitution into the 21st century, all problems would suddenly fix themselves......but we will never ever find out if that is true or not!

I leave you to yourselves, there are better things to do on CR4 than here.

Byeeeeeee
