Dip stick, a little geometry, some method to measure output energy and some basic algebra usually works for me.

Fuel consumption kW (kVA) kW (kVA) kW (kVA)

Ratings 1800 (2250) 1600 (2000) 1320 (1650)

Load 1/4 1/2 3/4 Full 1/4 1/2 3/4 Full Full

US gph 31.7 58.1 85.9 115.3 30.1 52.7 76.9 103.9 84.4

L/hr 120 220 325 437 114 200 291 394 320

This didn't copy very well.

Did you ask the seller of the unit?

Re: Calculate Fuel Consumption Per Day for Diesel Generator?

03/16/2012 10:57 PM

Dear Mr. Duffem,

It is calculated on the BASIS of SPECIFIC FUEL CONSUMPTION and 0.28 Lb./BHP per Hour, is the STANDARD at near FULL LOAD. At Partial Load - the Diesel Consumption will be high.

This topic raised few times and you will find quite a lot response from CR4 MEMBERS, from the Link given below:

http://cr4.globalspec.com/search/sitesearch?do=show&sort=textmatchrank&srch=Diesel%20Consumption&order=asc&Pg=1

I have also responded earlier and the Link is:

Re: Calculating Consumption for a Diesel Generator
02/27/2011 4:33 PM

Dear Guest,

The Diesel Consumption depends upon the Efficiency of the Engine and Generator. An efficient and GOOD set/system will have a Diesel Consumption of 206.28 gms/kW.Hr. as SPECIFIC FUEL CONSUMPTION at FULL LOAD.

At 75% FULL LOAD the same good DG SET will have a SPECIFIC FUEL CONSUMPTION of 205.9 gms/kW.Hr.

At No-Load the Diesel Consumption will be 10 to 10.2% of the Full Load consumption. Adultered Diesel will not fit in to this band, which will be less in CALORIFIC VALUE.

We should always try to run the set at Full Load or near Full Load in order to achieve best Fuel Economy.

A similar question appeared in this Forum about 6 months back and you can search in this Forum and many CR4 Members responded with their comments. In that Forum you will find that the Specific Fuel Consumption in FPS unit as 0.28 Lb/H.P.Hr (since I studied in FPS SYSTEM) posted by me.

Thanks,

DHAYANANDHAN.S

We are all qualified Engineers and specialized in a Particular Field. We should know the basics thoroughly. Hence the details given.

To answer your Question How Much Diesel/KW.Hr the single line Answer is:

Diesel Consumption of ONE LITRE, should give 3.3 to 3.4/KWHr. is the Good Performance - at 85% to 88% of full load.

It depends on what Units [sic] you want to use. If litres, it will simply be 1 litre per litre; but this is not likely what you mean.

Ask the people who sold it to you!
