What is This Gizmo?

01/06/2014 8:24 PM

Sash chain, eye bolt, conical compression spring and cast wall brkt. Any ideas of that this is? Comes from mid 20th century. But I'm having trouble posing the pic. It says there is a long script running and it hangs up...

It's an impression of an anonymous poster asking a question?

Might be part of a wall mounted device for testing rubber or springs. missing assocated scale that would be on the wall.

Try http://www.edlabquip.com/catalogue/mt-009-modulus-rigidity-of-rubber/ or

http://www.edlabquip.com/catalogue/mt-005e-extension-of-springs-apparatus/ for possible candidates.

I'm sorry... total fail on this question. Can't get the photo to load. Using the "insert image" icon, up above, does not insert anything. Useless. And pasting the image in gives me a "long running script" error. wtf? Have not had this issue in all these years.

Wild guess, but could a lesser resolution help by decreasing the file size? I wonder if there is any relation to the recent problem of posting longer replies.

I tried jpg, bmp and even gif, which was very small. No difference. Using the insert image command doesn't work... when I upload, nothing is transferred to the page. And a paste command leaves me with the running script error.

More like a blindfolded blind black cat, wearing sunglasses, in the bottom of a coal mine at midnight, during an eclipse of the sun.

From the description, could be a very early type of baby bouncer, or for docking lighter-than-air ships or a shock resistant place to tether a horse.

I'd say that "sash chain" petty well disqualifies your guesses.

"and it hangs up"

Could it be that your Gizmo is for hanging something up?
