01/14/2014 12:06 PM

Hi Experts,

This is a general question regarding the use of volume bottle.

Is it possible to attain Fail Close position in Double acting pistion actuator with out the use of volume bottle.

Note: This is a modulating application and not ON-OFF.

Yes. Change the double-acting one for a single-acting actuator.

You could use a spring return on the rod end of a double acting cylinder. You would have to increase the overall stroke length of the cylinder to accommodate the spring, and this will effect the dynamics of the cylinder.

GA. Yes, the spring (force) on one side of piston would close when ever the system pressure fails. Should this to happen, there has be an arrangement to dump/relieve the oil (pressure) on either side of the piston when system pressure fails.

...which turns it into a single-acting actuator.
