Why would you ask us when the manufacturer can do a much better job at answering that?

Yep. The equipment manufacturer does. That's why the testing will be in the User Manual supplied with it. If this document is nowhere to be found, a simple telephone call will invoke a replacement.

Probably not. What would have lead you to believe that Conservator Shutter Valve testing experts reside here?

The Conservator Shutter Valve (CSV) is part of the Sergi Transformer Protector system. It is a passive device that is triggered when there is an unusually high flow of oil from the conservator tank.

You could try opening the main tank drain valve, slowly increase the flow rate, and note the flow rate at which the CSV initially operates. Make sure you have a reservoir to collect the oil so that you can refill the tank before you re-energize the transformer.

If you think this is a dumb idea, then follow all the previous posters' suggestions and contact Sergi directly, they're probably going to wonder why you don't believe them when they say "...trust us, we know our system works as advertised..."
