Cushion Value

02/17/2014 8:00 PM

How does a cushion value work and how will I plumb a cushion value which I have, from my skidsteer to the hydraulic motor. The value has 4 ports and two reliefs. Also how do I set the reliefs. I'm thinking that one side must be almost open.

Well, there must be a drawing, sketch, information leaflet or something supplied with the valve, and/or something similar for the equipment to which it is being attached. Has the phone call been made to either supplier yet, and what did they say? It's just that these things cannot be seen from here.

Just as any cushion does it softens something from firm to soft. My suggestion is to place the cushion on the seat. Sit on it and await a qualified service tech to make the repairs. Pick a extra soft cushion may help soften the blow of the bill.

I thought the board was for information and to help others, not for smart comments.

Generally, when we can't supply the first, we resort to the second .

It embraces all of those concepts.

I thought the information given was very helpful. Given the wording and the amount of information in your post.

We all don't have crystal balls or read minds. The pressure setting for the relief valves would be in the service manual for the equipment the valve was on. From questions asked on prior posts your swapping out valves placing them on other equipment so those values in the service manual may not apply. So it's up to you to determine the proper setting. A pressure setting that will not damage the equipment. You refer to the valve as a cushioning valve. It is to soften some movement also to keep from damaging some part of the equipment. What I don't know you didn't provide that information and my crystal ball is out for cleaning. Gets a lot of use here.

I finished my project, works fine and I might add with no help from anyone on this board. Do not hit the wrong key and when you are typing or you have to sign in as Anonymous.
