Hi ,

I want to know ,how to calculate Pressure acting on side walls of a tank...Example my tank size is 1X1X1Mts dimension and filled with water completly.I need to know how much pressure is acting on each side walls and the bottom floor of the tank.

One metric tonne per square meter on the bottom; zero at the top; linear interpolation between.

Usually their specific gravity is close enough to 1 to consider them as just water.

All bets are off if they are frozen and just chucked into a dry container.

I'll be doing just that this weekend--my plant freezes about 300 tons of herring per day for about 15 days in a year. Hectic while it lasts.

One gallon weighs 8.4 pounds. One cubic foot weighs 62.4 pounds.

You can take it from there, right?

Oh, atmospheric pressure is 14.7 PSI.

Pressure is a function of depth. Force on the walls is the integral of pressure with respect to depth from the bottom of the liquid to its surface.

There are simple solutions for simple geometries.

Anybody that's asking this question must be making a case for thin walled fish tanks. While I don't like the weight of the glass I always wish it were twice as thick.
