If the Server was addressing a resource on the old main board this would have changed now and hence server cannot be found. This once a day seems to be a single occurrence then? Or are you replacing the boards frequently.

Just asking as then there seems more than one problem with the system.

You are the man! You can fix this!

Your server is lost.

Find it and all will be well.

Note to self: Place server on tether.

I tethered mine to my Android phone and use the "find your phone app to locate them when they run away.

It would really help the forum to discover the content of the phone calls that have already been made to the Scada system supplier's Technical Helpline.

The OP's phone was apparently already tethered to his server, without the "find your phone" app and it is lost too.

Anything Lyn lacks in expertise, he makes up for with humor, albeit sometimes it can be a little dry.

What you have, rahul, "is a failure to communicate". Of the many ways to interpret this little piece of overused information, the one that applies to your situation is due to the fact that something is not configured correctly.

You may or may not have access to this thing that needs to be configured. For some mother boards, this is called the "BIOS" which is a group of settings and other pieces of information stored in a battery backed up RAM or a better form of re-writable memory that requires no power to retain its settings.

You will need to contact the supplier of the equipment to find out how to set it. Chances are that he wants big bucks to come out and do that for you. If that is the case, you will have to pay for him to "show" you and you might have to buy some software and/or hardware so you can do that yourself in the future.

In any case, be nice to the supplier or he will not show you anything. Then, next time he will charge you a lot more than you will be paying this time.

The moral to this story is this: When you buy equipment, you should always make sure you buy the maintenance information which will probably include more purchases for cables, hardware, or software. Most people don't want to buy this when it is cheap. Instead, they would rather pay and pay until they could have replaced it one or two times over. I don't know why that is true, but it is.

Rahul,

With many of the systems in use, there are two programs used by a machine builder. The first program is called the development software and it has an editor that allows him to set up the configuration. This same program interprets his controls design and changes it using a compiler to build the machine language version of his controls. With that you have a custom program produced which is frequently called a "run time" program.

You may have the "run time" viewer and consequently can not change the configuration of anything. You will have to verify all of this yourself.

If this is the case, you have two choices.

1) Spend a lot of time and money buying the development software and trying to figure out how to use it this once.

2) Send the motherboard to the manufacturer and let him do it.

Lastly, one idea that has worked for me is to remove the non volatile memory chip from the broken device and put it into the replacement device. No software needed.

There are plenty of scada experts at the scada system supplier's technical helpline. What were their answers, please?
