The FDA's attempt apply a "Ministry of Truth" move was thwarted by Google's "cached page" technology. It seems that the recent appointment of a veterinarian to fill the vacant director of the Office of Women's Health didn't go over so well, and another person was appointed a few days later. The weird part is that the FDA then refused to acknowledge that the first appointment ever happened! They could remove traces of the first appointment from their official web site, but they couldn't get it out of Google's cache. How embarrassing!
BTW, the former director, Dr Susan Wood, resigned in protest over the FDA's rejection of scientific and clinical evidence related to emergency contraception.
