415v 2 Phase 16 Amp Demag

04/16/2014 5:36 AM

Good morning all, I'm in the UK and have a query i was hoping someone maybe able to help me with.

My company has a 415v 2 phase 16 amp frequency 50 Demagnatiser unit that has been replaced, and they would like to make the old one mobile. The problem is that our site only has 415v supplies in the maintanances department for the welders. Currently if the electricians require a welder in different areas they wire a circuit board straight into the mains and then removed it. Obviously if you have to put 415v supplies all over the factory then you may aswell have just had it fixed in one place, I was wondering if there was any way to be able to run it from a standard 240v socket, perhaps incorperating a transformer into the unit?

My electrical knowledge is very limited; one of the onsite electricans will be doing any work but have been less than helpfull coming up with anything.

Any input would be greatly received, cheers

This might give some leads, the last couple of posts are probably the most useful.

Should be interesting, a 230/400V transformer rated to supply 400V 16A fed of a 230V 13A socket.

Wonder how long the plug top fuse will last?

Don't think it would work? I have the option of getting some additional supplies put in place, but I figure that 2 or 3 of these would be greater than the transformer route

Just plug in 3 wall sockets and spread the load!

That still has a socket pair that could be used....

Good for another year easy.

Save yourself a huge amount of grief and install some strategically placed 415v outlets. The less than helpful electricians should be capable of doing that.
