Electrical Motor Starter in Star Delta

My motor is 30kw, so I want to know how much current takes during starting(star) and normal running condition(delta).

plz also explain........

The current drawn during normal running is dependent upon the load connected to your motor. You can only determine it using the aforementioned high-tech method espoused by member Lyn.

The current during starting (star) will be 33.333333333333333333333333% of what it would be if the motor was started in delta**. That amount is dendent upon the motor design, something you did not divulge. ASSuming it is a Design B motor, typical DOL starting current is 500-600% of the nameplate Full Load Current of the motor, whatever that is. The DURATION of that current is again load dependent.

** except that if it is an open transition star-delta starter scheme, as most are, during the transition from star to delta there is the potential for a brief spike of up to 2000% of the nameplate FLC.

First go and read about Star-Delta Starter

But for your simplicity i will clear you in Star connection during starting starting current will be 3-4 times rated current and in delta it will take load upto motor rating depending upon load connected at motor end.

No-one here knows, because no-one except the Original Poster knows either about the mechanical load to which the motor is connected or the voltage of the supply when under load.

Most induction motors are begun directly on line(DOL) strters, however when large motors are begun that way, they cause an disturbance of voltage on the supply lines because of substantial starting current surges.

To restrain the starting current surge, large induction motors are begun at decreased voltage and after that have full supply voltage reconnected when they keep running up to close rotated speed.
