My guess is it's probably the static charge built up on the antiglare screen. At switchon the sudden high voltage on the tube (or maybe the de-gausing voltage) is creating an electrostaic force against the antiglare screen.

(Someone will probably shoot me down on this one, but I've packed my 'chute.)

It is,n,t degaussing voltage as this is ac(has to be to demag the shad mask)- it would be the eht of 25 to 32 kv( dep on screen size), which comes in a rush as you turn - you can feel this by putting the back of your hand to the screen- interestingly, I also use anti- radiation screens, but have never noticed any movement- the screens can be plastic or glass, but in every case should be earthed- they come with a lead for this purpose- just connect to an earth on your setup.

Sounds good to me...

Could this be the cause of my baldness...my hair is now all stuck to assorted VDUs?

More likely it's your Avatar thinking with its fingers (or is that toes) has attracted the hair away from your head

Right, and if so, why won't this antiglare screen have a proper discharge (earthing) cable going from the screen to the PC chassis, to avoid this in the first place?

Mine does.

If your antiglare screen contains magnetic material, I imagine it would be attracted by the antigaussing signal, and bounce of the CRT. Similarly, I would have thought the EHT would attract your screen.

Perhaps you could check for the first by trying your screen with a normal television that doesn't use such a large degaussing signal.
