VIBRATION-COMPENSATED TABLE FOR HEAVY EQUIPMENT.

I WOULD THANK ANY TECHNICAL INFO ON THIS SUBJECT

MANY THANKS.

I'm looking for something also for a small generator mounting to a vehicle. What type of heavy equipment are you talking about and where will it be mounted. I suspect the type of mounting will depend upon the type of mass movements the equipment exhibits (up and down, side to side, etc.) I suppose the perfect platform to dampen sideways oscillations would be fabricated from a frictionless surface, though those don't exist. BUT, some equipment could be suspended via air pressure contained in a curtain, similar to a hover craft. In other words, I don't know but I like trying to find the best way to do something so I'll work on it for both of us if you'll be more specific. Right now, all I've come up with for the generator is some rubber grommets and some valve springs. How uncreative.

good morning,

Sorry I did not explain well the problem I wanted to solve.

It is like that:

A certain equipment should be mounted on a wheeled, of the road vehicle.

The equipment must be kept on a horizontal position, regardless of the movement of the vehicle.

The tolerance of the horizontal position is +- 3 degrees ( one square angle=90 º)

I Will be able to give you more details in few weeks.

Thanks in advance for any useful information on this subject.

Arturo

This is the same problem as keeping a marine radar antenna level whilst the ship pitches & yaws beneath it. On naval vessels this is done with a gyro stabilised gimbal platform. Of course, they don't have to worry about the cost............

May be You could adopt stabilising mechanism from used tank, or less heavy equipment of this type?

I would like to get some more sofisticated solutions.

Now I am gathering the basic data.

I think that there should be something alike used for optical mobile equipment and for guns mounted on tanks and other vehicles.

Now a days the most viable mean to design such tables is the usage of non magnetic stainless steel coil dampers. While considering the design of subject equipment the most important question is that whether you want to install it permanently or you want to have a removable mounting system. In case you want to have a permanant fixture then then you can directly place the equipment on a platform with 45 degree design. Or if you require a removable system then a pallet will have to be designed with basic principle of 45 degree mount. 45 degree mount system will cater for all the forces generated during move of the vehicle. Now the only question left is selection of damping solution which will be based upon the weight of the engine. The same can be told to you if you desire but for that mail me the exact weight. My email is nasir552@gmail.com and nasir_552@hotmail.com

Thanks

The principle must be an active compensation

Cost depends on several factors:

-inertia of equipment

-disturbing frequencies

-disturbing amplitudes

-available power on bord

-required time constant of the compensation mechanism (can be derived from above data and angle limit)

-kind of connections between equipment and support (stiffness, aso)

If you give quantitatively near values i can suggest or even make a proposal for the system. For it you should give me the possibility to establish a direct contact.

Depending on the sensitivity you can go simple.

Just build a platform using a dual axis you can put bearings on all rotational points and weight it heavy at the bottom.

I know this is very simplified but I hope you get the drift.

It can be a very good solution depends only on the kind of disturbing loads: a cardan + a weight to bring the COG under the plane of the cardan.
