Water Pipe Line Diameter Calculation

Once the the quantity of water flow is finalized in litre per second, How can we calculate the diameter of the water pipeline?

You will have to find the sweet point where the combination of capital cost and running costs will be at a minimum. Therefore you may have to calculate a few options for different size of pipes. with rising energy cost the bigger pipe of two almost equal options should win.

Pipe suppliers usually have friction friction tables or graphs .

Your setup will also need to be taken into account. Meaning that if it is a gravitation system the fiction would have to balance the static and bigger pipe will be an overkill.

If it's more than 3 m/s, it is too small. If it is less than 1 m/s, it is too large.
