Can anyone tell me will AI module generate 4-20mA?

If yes, how does that generate?

If your input module has no output, no.

If you have an input-output module, yes.

You NEED TO READ THE DATA SHEET!

No, it won't, so provide loop power from elsewhere like it says on the instrument manufacturer's data sheet.

You have the cart before the horse. Many Analog Input (AI) modules are designed to receive a 4-20 mA signal. Many Analog Output (AO) modules are designed to generate a 4-20mA signal.

It depends on the manufacturer and the model - some supply the required loop voltage to drive the instruments, and some do not. Just a couple of months ago I had to re-wire a customer supplied panel because they thought the AI module would supply the voltage to drive the instruments on our process skid, and it did not. (these were old Allen Bradley AI cards for the SLC500 system - those cards definitely require a loop voltage be supplied external to the card)

Apparently Schneider mixes AI's and AO's on single module card. The M238 module has 4 AI's and 2 AO's. The term "current/voltage preactuator" is a strange/proprietary name for an analog output. The TWIDO PLC does something similar, depending on specific model.
