Volumes? Temperatures? Pressures? Fluid composition?

The codes and standards to be followed for the particular component should be defined in the contract by the purchaser.

Generally speaking, the selection of code or standard does not depend on the specific use. The codes are designed to protect the public from harm in the event of release of stored energy (mainly pressure).

In the USA, there is no difference in the ASME rules of construction to be used for a solar power usage pressurized tank or one to be used for a coal power plant tank.

Nuclear power vessels and chemical plant vessels used in lethal service are an exception to this general rule.

Hope that this helps....

is this your first involvement with tanks or pressure vessels ? Are you a manager ?

That means, I can use ASME BPV code or even API right??

yeah, I'm new to tanks and vessels, and I'm not a manager.

Thank you

Dear NTR,

It should be defined the difference between "storage tank" and "pressure vessel" eg by internal pressure: atm to 2.5psig/atm to 15 psig: API 650/ API 620; 15 psig to 3,000 psig, 3000 psig to 10,000 psig and over 10,000 psig: ASME BPVC VIII Div.1,2,3. Every code has its scope/limitation.

You can google for more detail.

Rgds,

Trung Duong
