Need a Metric Pipe Coupling

05/22/2014 8:25 AM

I can not seem to find the following:

20 mm nominal diameter by 1.5 thread pitch by 30 mm (min.) long pipe coupling for 20 MPa pressure capacity. Prefer stainless (304 OK). Also, coupling nuts will work. At this point I only need two items. These must be a stock item somewhere.

Ask the supplier of the pipe, then.

One end on piece of out of date equipment, the other end on a nipple swaged to a hydraulic hose which is a wee bit too short and irreplacable, thereby requiring the 30 mm length of coupling, all being made up starting at the hydraulic hose nipple. It's never easy.

Here is a website for Newline fittings. There is a 20 mm x 1.5 mm pitch coupling close to your requirement. I could not verify the 20 MPa (3000 psi rating). Better check with them.

Thanks. Been there before. All metric fittings I could find on Parker were for tubing, not threaded pipe.

Is this 20mm OD pipe (nominal dia in metric system)? I don't get the 1.5mm thread pitch. Metric threads are based on British Standard Pipe (BSP) threads (they call them Gaz threads in France, but it's the same). The nearest to 20mm OD is ½ inch, designated G½ if it's male. That's formed on nominal ½ inch pipe, OD ~ 21.3mm, and has 14 TPI, giving pitch 1.81mm.

A fine series M20 bolt has pitch 2mm (standard M20 has pich 2.5mm) if that's any help.
