The law of conservation of energy has nothing to do with this.

You most likly can make oil out of plastic, did you google it? How much effort do you think to put into this?

We are very good at making plastic out of oil, why do the other way?

Plastic can be recylced, sure not all of it, but some will get burned to take the last energy out of it, some is just waste.

If you are talking about all the plastic that ends up in the rubbish pits - yes its a shame or it is future resource.

The answer is in the detail of which plastic are we talking about, where is it coming from, why would you do it and how do you define popular!

Hypothetical numbers! If it takes $5.00 to recover 10# of oil from plastic why spend that when you can get the raw materials for $1.00/10#?

Supply and demand!

Good Luck, Old Salt
