Control Strategy Can Be Used Both For Grid Connected/Stand -Alone Mode of WECS

06/10/2014 8:04 AM

Hi,

I would like to know the control strategies used common for both mode of WECS i.e. grid connected/off grid mode of WECS. Can I use HBCC strategy for stand alone mode?

The Wind Energy Control Strategy (WECS) depends upon the exact type of turbine/generator combination; is it driven through a gearbox, a synchronous/induction/DC generator, what type of induction generator, etc, etc.

Hysteresis Band Current Control (HBCC) is primarily used on the output of DC/AC Converters for nonsynchronous and DC generators. As long as the controller produces the proper reference signal to compare the line currents against, it can be used to supply stand-alone loads.

There's plenty of papers on the web about this subject. Clearly if you know enough to throw around this alphabet soup then you should be able to find them.
