Any sand castle is an ancient sand castle, for sand is being deposited at the beach for thousands and even millions of years.

Could have worded it a little better. I looked up Ancient Castles in the library many years ago. I have pictures and drawings of European Ancient Castles in my "Sand Castle Mold ideas" file.

I suppose one would have to look up the architect of these ancient castles, get their drawings, learn the steps taken, and simplify the whole concept.

There are ways to solidify the sand.

Oh well, some one might be able to take off on this idea and make it practical.

I assume (sp? Can't find the dictionary) there would have to be instructions to help out this whole idea.

I used to work with architects who would ask me to get various plans in the basement-- electrical, mechanical, etc.

Let the kids do it! They will enjoy it more and probably do a better job of it than you can or want to. They can make very ingenious structures and with more imagination. Even better they will need very little instructions, if you are wise enough not to get too involved.

Get involved with them and share some "bonding time" with them. If you really want to get involved with them, lie down in the sand and have them build the sand castle on and around you. To make this type more comfortable, visit the restroom and drain the bladder first.

After they have done this take them to the next sand sculpture demonstration/contest, especially if you are within a day's ride of the shore. Now that's very impressive to them and to you!

Good Luck, Old Salt

I would say a plastic laminated picture with a set of plastic molds for that design....the towers and walls could have numbers on them with the corresponding mold with matching number....

Questions:

1. Why would you want to make an ancient sand castle?

2. What size and occupancy you'd want your castle to be?

3. What will be the usage of your sand castle when done? Rent it out? Make a resort?

4. Would you want to live in that sand castle yourself with your dream-partner(s)?

5. What will be your budget to built such an ancient castle?

I like your comment; however, I do not want to go to that extreme. Perhaps one could experiment with different copies of ancient sand castles which could be found in a library and then build something of a smaller scale, such as a doll house which is not exactly manly but would inspire imagination. Carpentry skills required.

Do not think of sand castles. Just think about ancient castles period.

Naturally, one doesn't find anything about "ancient sand castles"

in library.

Sorry about not thinking out what I previously wrote. Ancient castles. Backtrack to ancient CASTLES, FORGET THE SAND PART.

Library research for ANCIENT CASTLES not sand castles. The wording at first was silly.

Just stick to ancient castles.

Later on, perhaps, try to apply the pictures of ANCIENT CASTLES to sand molds, trying to get the main aspects of the old castles.

Then get a few ideas on napkins while having a pleasant picnic at a nice beach.

Onward and upward, try to settle on one good napkin drawing and by using carpentry skills on a miniature scale build a doll house; not too macho, but so what.
