Have a Cookie

07/24/2014 1:37 PM

If you detest the placing of cookies and LSO's on your computer,I think I may have a solution:

Cut your cookies to an email and mail them to a friend, preferably in another state or country.

Have them substitute your cookies for theirs, and forward their cookies elsewhere.

Then let them do the same, and install foreign cookies in your cookie directory.

This will make them totally useless to the originator of the cookie,or LSO.

It might eventually spell the end of cookies and LSO's.

Now if you are a Gamer, this might not be to your advantage, but to everyone else, it may work.

Any thoughts or comments on this?

Send them to people in Your address book.

That will be adequate if everyone does the same.

In a few months, or less, the entire global cookie monster will be put to rest.

Of course, they will find another way of tracking us, I guess.

ok, I'll bite. How do you do it. "Cut your cookies to an email" is a bit vague for those of us who are doing other things with our spare time. I do however, detest cookies.

I guess I should have said "Cut and paste" into an email message.

Re: Have a cookie

As I do further research, I find that cookies are only a grain of sand on the beach of information that is harvested on everyone.

Cell phone data, social media sites,Google,Locally Shared Objects, RFID's on everything, including credit cards, and hundreds of others methods make cookies virtually obsolete and archaic, and it is probably useless to try to gain any privacy by deleting them.

In the future newborns will probably be "Chipped" like cattle, and older existing generations will probably be taking prescription pills with RFID chips that remain in the body, without your consent or knowledge.

I should have done my homework before starting this thread.

Resistance is futile.

Oh,for the good old days of 1984!

I think I will have a glass of milk, and watch the sand trickle slowly through my hourglass.

A better solution is to use Firefox browser, and install plugin, 'cookiemonster'. This blocks all cookies, but you can enable just the sites you want. You also can install a java script blocker 'noscript' and enable just the ones you want. Some sites will not work with out these enabled, but not all scripts need to be functional.

I generally never see advertisement on any sites, as these are javascript. You need cookies for a shopping cart to work, but then you really don't care about blocking those sites. You need cookies for this site to work if you want to log in and reply to forum threads.

Good idea, but this only blocks them.I would like to make them totally useless and obsolete as well.

The final objective is to make all cookies an option of the recipient.

A more noble objective would be to make viruses, browser hijacks, etc. "an option of the recipient"... IMHO, anyway.

I personally think the collectors of this information are rather ignoble,so they should understand being treated likewise.

Re: Have a Cookie

Our only hope is to scramble this info as best we can to make it useless.

Privacy,as we once defined it, sadly,no longer exists.

Osama B.L. was right about one thing:

He said:"I will change America." and he did on 9/11.

And ever since, privacy has taken a back seat.

I know cookies existed before, but now our Uncle in getting into the act as well, in every aspect of our lives.

Your preferred customer card is used to record all of your purchases, and can be used

against you in a court of law.

Did you know that every piece of snail-mail you send can be tracked from start to finish?

Anyway,I am too old to worry about it,my hourglass has a lot less in the top half than the bottom, but it is sad to know that the following generations will never know true privacy.

Perhaps that is eventually for the best, for the human race to become like the Borg,or an ant colony.

Resistance may in fact,be futile.

So have tried this out for yourself already?

If so, did websites open in the name of the person who's cookies you received in the series of exchanges?

Once you log in under your own accounts, won't the cookies be updated?

Here's how to remove all or selected cookies...

http://www.wikihow.com/Clear-Your-Browser's-Cookies

You may not want to remove all cookies. You will have to look up some passwords that were bypassed enough times that you forgot what they were.

One advantage of cookies is that some of your information is stored on your own computer, rather than someone else's. In other words, it may be that the someone else is not keeping your information, but uses it only when you access them.

Sounds like a great idea for an app(s). I don't know if it would make you any money, but you'd become slightly famous.

Yeah, that makes sense. Millions of people think getting a box of Girlscout individual hand held desert units, like Samoas or Thin Mints, is a good thing... which is probably a safe bet, tell since they didn't resort to using the 'c' word of the seven or eight letter variety.
