Follow the procedure recommended by the boiler manufacturer.

Asking total strangers for advice is never a smart thing to do.

He could also make based on the manufacturers manual and on the specific systems equirements he has.

But then he would not ask that question . . .'

Now that you say that: yes it is!

But then we would never recommend to read the manual but would rather send him to pilot training.

So we would have to question the qualification of OP. . .

So long . . .

Dear Mfanah,

Please follow the PM activity as per OEM instruction. As Boiler is the critical equipment you should ask OEM and day by day considering the breakdown data and with RCA you can add or remove some of the activity during PM in boiler.

Remember always to review the annual insurance inspection reports as well so as to pick up any long term trends, and also the feed water treatment equipment and its performance. This should all be in your user manual, Murphy.

Dear Mr.Mfanah,

Any machine/equipment will perform efficiently if the Instructions/Recommendations as found in the Manual. First step DO NOT DEVIATE to OPERATE the BOILER from that of the PARAMETERS found in the MANUAL. Especially follow the "DOs" and "DON'Ts"

If Manual/Drawings are not given. pl. ask/insist for it. Educate your operating staff to follow the same. Call the Manufacturers Engineer to conduct a class for your staff.

While openening any equipment for checking/maintanance, pl. ensure same tolerances are maintained.

All of those posting here have given the ONLY sound advice they can in the situation:

(1) Educate yourself through a thorough review of the OEM manual, and direct consultations with the OEM.

(2) Pass along portions of this information to those who will actually be performing PM tasks, and have written protocols, schedules, etc. for them to follow.

(3) Pay close attention to any insurance inspector reports, as these may reveal items you missed, and nothing sucks worse than an insurance company that refuses to re-certify your boiler equipment, or you get a visit from government boiler law folks with requests for some explaining of "why is this like this?"

Sir, your query indicates water -tube or fire-tube boiler ? Does this mean that you have both these types at your plant ? It is not clear since you state " or ". Is this just a quick reference exercise ?

Both boilers are totally different , both in terms of operation, maintenance and SOPs. So what is it that you are looking for ?
