Need Help ASAP....ZETA NPSX Gen S/C Gen FLT Alarm

08/18/2014 5:24 AM

Hi

How can i stop the Gen S/C , Zonal Fault, and Gen Flt alarm in our FDAS system. we already tried replacing the smoke detector on the zonal fault where the alarm led originates but we still kept on getting the same alarm. i already tried switching the keys on and off as what was describe in the manual but still it does not remedy the problem.

PS

Sometimes It also displays a Fire/zones alarm and switches from 1 zone to the other even without any fire.

thank you for the help

Easy. RING THE EQUIPMENT MANUFACTURER AND TALK THROUGH THE PROBLEM DIRECTLY.

The expression <...ASAP...> applied to a task in the Microsoft Project domain means that it becomes lowest priority and therefore can go to the back of the queue behind other tasks. For example, New Year's Day 2023 is possible. Is that soon enough (rhetorical question - NNTR)?

Sounds like the E.O.L. (End Of Line) resistance may be incorrect for your application.

Fire detection circuit impedance is critical and specific to the OEM requirement(s) for each application, fire panel type, and version.

The motherboard monitors each circuit by measuring the amount of current flowing through the loop at all times.

The circuit loop requires an End Of Line resistor or a configurable detector at the end position of the circuit or a configurable channel in the main panel to compensate for the quantity of detectors used.

Example:

Panel "A" requires circuit card A1B2 for all channels with 1 to 5 detectors and the total impedance for 5 detectors is: 1.2 ohms.

However the application only requires 3 detectors for one of the circuits.

This means the end of line detector must have a resistor connected across the sensor terminals of the correct value to meet the circuit impedance requirement for 5 detectors or the detector may be configurable with on-board dip switches or the panel motherboard cahennel will be configurable so that the circuit impedance can be matched to the panel.

The type of fire system and age of the unit determines which system is used.

This information is only available from the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and in some cases it is proprietary and only available through using the OEM field service department. (Too muchrisk & liability.)

Any attempts to repair or alter the fire system wihtout following the factory design specifications will yield an inoperable, faulty, unsafe system.

This is why telephone skills and a desire to use it are so valuable. GA.

Thank you so much we tried to place diode between the terminal (1n4001) this cause to stop the alarm except when we put it across terminal 3 which triggers the device. we want to try putting on 10k resistors

hoping for your feedback and corrections/suggestion

Installing any device other than that which is specified by the original equipment manufacturer in the correct location will cause unreliable operation and/or failure of the fire system.

It is imperative that you obtain the correct information required to solve the issue.

The only reliable, competent source for your needed information is from the original manufacturer or a factory authorized repair service.

Contact the factory and purchase the information and/or needed technical services before it is too late.

I would hate to be your Insurance provider. Most states have a requirement that you must be a certified fire tech to work on a fire control or alarm system of this order. Why are you trying to defeat your system by fooling with resister values you have no clue what they should be. If you do manage to turn the system off for the moment what happens when you go home tonight and the system doesn't go off like it is originally intended to if there is a fire . I do not want work in this building. A (CERTIFIED) fire tech, or inspector needs to work on this system not maintenance tech. I've seen too many botched fire and security systems destroyed by unqualified people trying to do a quick fix. All signs of building owners when they get the bill for the repairs when they thought they were saving money.Duke

You also need to consider liability issues. If the you do your own fixes or repairs, your insurance company may not feel obligated to pay if the fire detection system fails to detect.
