Restriction Orifice Plate

09/02/2014 5:10 AM

Can anybody help me with details of a restriction orifice plate program? I have seen [via search engines] various companies offering downloads, but wonder which is genuine and offers a simple method of calculation. I have several standard o/p programs and wonder if any members are sufficiently willing and generous to share their knowledge and experience. I will be grateful for any help in this matter.

Obtain a copy of Perry, "The Chemical Engineer's Handbook", any edition. It is in there.

I have a copy of Perry's Handbook [10th Edn] but the information in there was rather sketchy. I also have Miller's Flow Handbook and again there isn't that much data on R/O.

I'll keep on searching.

Ametek has this line of products, you may contact their sales or technical person, definitely you'll find some useful information.

Thanks for the info. I did come across Ametec in my searches previously. I did contact them but they were unable to give me any information due to commercial reasons. I'll keep digging!

If you're looking for a discussion of various calculations at choked flow, take a look at this 14 page paper, Modeling Choked Flow through an Orifice at Applied Flow Technology:
