Signatone Prober Needs A Belt

09/02/2014 6:17 PM

Hi all,

I have a Signatone S-250-5 manual prober with a broken belt for the probe ring raise/lower function. (see picture) As far as I can tell, the belt is made of some type of plastic and it rolls two sprockets to raise and lower the table when I pull a lever. I'm having a rough time trying to find a replacement, let alone figuring out what to name it.

I've tried plastic chain drive, belt drive, etc, in internet searches and came up with nada. The manufacturer is non-responsive. The equipment is fairly old so I doubt it's worth their time to even see if this is still replaceable.

Any assistance you might give will be greatly appreciated. To even know what the item is actually called would at least point me in the right direction!

Thanks Guys! Berg had exactly what I needed and another belt as well for a different machine. (which, OF COURSE, broke right AFTER I posted about the first one!)

Appreciate the assist!

When someone posts a question here, it is presumed that the poster made a sincere and diligent effort to solve the problem before posting.

Obviously, you have not even performed a rudimentary search on Google.

I did,and within a minute, had all the info needed.

Try it .You may like it!

Without sounding rude, that was a bit harsh HiTekRedNek, the OP already stated he had done an initial search and found nothing.

The problem with searching on the internet is knowing the correct terminology, as he didn't even know what type of belt it was how would he know what to type in the search engine.

He asked a question and just deserved an answer, not derogatory comments.

Let's see:

I need a belt for my car.

Common sense dictates that I would look for parts for my car by make, model and year, etc.

So the parallel here is look for parts for the machine of interest, which is what I did, and found parts right away.

If this is harsh, to expect someone to utilize a little initiative,so be it.

HTRN,

For someone with so much time and so little to say.......You've chosen a very apt name!

First thing I did was search by make and model. Just like I do for my own car.

Do you actually own a car? Would have thought a mule (and you KNOW what animal I would use if it were allowed here) would better suit your personality.

I would give you a link to the first hit with Google, but that would be too easy for you.

I am sure you would think me more personable if I gave you the answer right away instead of poking a stick in your ribs.

Typical of a "you owe me...*" personality.

I am willing to help someone that falls overboard, but if they are lying down in 2 feet of water and refuse to stand up,that is a different story.

Of course, they will complain that I didn't really help them when I told them to stand on their own two feet.

Now,in answer to your question:I don't own a car.

But I do have a tractor, and hope to get it runnin real soon.

As a matter of fact, I have to ride a pregnant mare to the mail box so that I have something to ride back home.

I only have one tooth, an' just learned how to rite recently. How am I doin'?

I am my own grandpa ,due to inbreeding on my mountain, and I recently divorced my sister.

But that's ok.

The law 'round here says the kids can still call me daddy,an I don't have to pay 'em to tote sugar to the still.

I ain't real good at this internet thing, but I am gittin' better at findin' stuff.

Speakin' of arse, I bet that is the icon of your political party.

Very apropos of you to mention it.

Get over it.

I don't want to get in the pissing match, but I am curious what search you used to find these so easily. I'm doing a little work on some fairly simple machines for some of the local industries as well as thinking of some robotic devices, so I'm trying to build a reference of sources of relevant devices. I had just recently found Berg and, thanks to someone on this thread, PIC Design.

This was not intended to be a pissing match.

I was merely trying to get the guy to do a little more searching on his own.

Instead,he became offended.

So be it.

I normally have a logical sequence for searches.

If the part has a number,I Google it first.

(I found brushes for a 1948 Ferguson tractor by entering the 6 digit number stamped into the case.)

Google is amazing,and getting better.

If no part number available,I search for the item by brand name or manufacturer, with the prefix: " Parts for xxx"

(I have found parts for old TI 5A PLC controllers(Circa1980's))

When all else fails, and I have tried all permutations of the name and numbers, I search forums for the relevant device.

Forums can be very valuable, and there are many very tolerant and knowledgeable people contributing to them.

However,I will do a diligent search of my own before taking advantage of their valuable time.

All of the foregoing notwithstanding, experience is the best teacher with Google.

Good Luck.
