Dearting or Ampacity Adjustment Factor

10/11/2014 11:15 AM

Underground power cable of medium voltage and 400V LV which is laid in concrete trench for say 300Meters may pass through duct bank for 10-15Meters along the entire stretch of its cable route. Derating in ampacity of cable laid in duct bank is higher than the derating in case of concrete trench. So considering the duct bank route to be worst, do we need to adjust the ampacity by considering derating factor as per duct bank condition or concrete trench conditions?

Regards

Per duct bank conditions.

(Unless possible to splice cables of both types.)

Derate in accordance to the worse case, ie the higher derating factor!!

Duct bank and include the clearances of the cable within the duct. Cable OD to duct ID clearances.
