Communication protocol/platform works their own type.

See if use is an updated version, old version communicator might not work.

Background

Each HART field device has its own specific HART DD and many times a separate DTM file which provides the software/communicator with the details of its functionality.

There is usually more than one DD/DTM file for devices with a long lifespan; different DD/DTMs for different firmware versions. In order to be considered HART by the HART Foundation, a HART DD file is required. DTM files are provided based on the field device manufacturer's willingness to create the DTM file for software/communicator that uses DTM format rather than DD format.

To my knowledge, a software package or a communicator uses either DD or DTM. I'm unaware software or a communicator that uses both, although the messages you post indicate the software might use either a DD or a DTM.

In the absence of a specific DD/DTM file for a field device, only a handful of generic or common HART commands will work on a 375/475 communicator for any given field instrument. I don't know whether your software executes the few generic HART commands when a DD/DTM file is lacking, or not, but that might be what the 'do you want to use the default DD file" might be asking.

What do you need to do?

It is the software/communicator's owner's responsibility to find and download the DD/DTM files specific for your field instruments and install the DD/DTM files in the software/communicator catalog/library of DD files.

There's a procedure in a manual or software help files that tells you how to install DD/DTM files.

Some companies bundle large numbers of DD or DTM into one very large zipped file (Honeywell).

Other vendors allow you download a specific version of a DD/DTM file.
You'll have to poke around vendor sites for the downloads and do whatever is needed
