Stranded

I have a Ford that I can not open the hood on. The hood cable broke when I pulled it. Is there any way to open the hood?

You have to locate the cable end and pull it with some vice grips....or access the latch from underneath....

If you know the model name and year, which you didn't provide here, look on the internet. Type in "(year) (model name/number) broken hood cable".

That should take you to some sites with pictures and even videos.

I used to have an old Dodge with the same problem. If you can get to the cable near the latch you can hook it with an old wire coat hanger and pull down. this will release the latch and allow you to open the hood. Once it's open fasten the hanger tighter and it can hang in front of the radiator without causing any problems.

I know guys who would remove the latch and secure the hood with duct tape.

Yes there is and it can be done in about 20 seconds with one common household item.

A can opener?

A claw hammer?

Is there a prize for guessing correctly?

You could try a filling station - and ask the attendant to top up the water?
