2D Data Matrix Barcode Scanner Date Issues

We scan a 2D Data Matrix barcode and for some reason the time portion of the barcode reads all zeros when we scan into excel. The numerical value is still etched below the stamp.

Can anyone help me understand what is happening?

Do you have the Excel cell value set to "time" ?

I'll check that. but the scanner reads 15 numbers. The first 6 are the part number the next is the date and then the time. For example it should read 276534152110927. What I am getting is: 276534152110000 instead of the time.

Are you certain the scanner is reading those last four digits? You might find that the 2D barcode itself does not have the information you expect. You might find that these four digits are not a numerical format and Excel inserts zeros for non-numeric characters in a numeric field.

Take the easy way out, enter the part number and date in to the barcode generator program and see if they look the same. Your other alternative is to get another reader and see if the date is indeed embedded in the code.
