Clean Rooms Critical to Valve Cleaning and Packaging

Posted August 21, 2016 12:00 AM by Engineering360 eNewsletter

Valves intended for oxygen service must meet special standards. The same holds true for valves used in critical service applications involving ozone, chlorine, and hydrogen peroxide. Valve cleaning and packaging operations, therefore, require clean rooms equipped with tools and procedures that strictly limit contamination and airborne particles. Learn how two valve companies — Watson Valve Services and DeZurik — have built and/or upgraded state-of-the-art clean rooms to meet industry standards and better serve their customers.

Mandate Targets Methane Emissions

Posted April 07, 2016 12:00 AM by Engineering360 eNewsletter

The U.S. and Canada have agreed on a plan to fight climate change, including cutting methane emissions, reports Scientific American. Methane emissions, the second largest source of greenhouse gas emitted in the U.S., are in fact the target of new technology and better maintenance methods. Pumps and Systems describes how valve packing technology has evolved to reduce methane leaks, for example. In a related video, Peter Kuhn of AGS explains how his company combines valve technology and algorithms to reduce emissions at the oil and gas wellhead, another source of methane pollution.
