Industry Weighing Water Loss Worries

Every day there are an estimated 800 water main breaks; more than five million breaks have occurred in North America since 2000, according to a water main break "clock" hosted by the PVC Pipe Association. To address the problem, the first ever conference on water loss was held in College Park, GA this December. One speaker called on the industry to invest in new technology and suggested that every valve installation should account for a minimum pressure at two critical target points within a network.

Declining infrastructure due to poor quality materials and little to no maintenance coupled with improper, cheap installation methods is taking it's toll.
