Best Valentine’s Day Chocolate for An Engineering Wife

Posted February 13, 2010 12:01 AM by Tigger

What's the best chocolate to give your engineering wife, girlfriend, or mistress on Valentine's Day?

I thought first of asking other CR4 users as I have done in the past. While that approach generates some good ideas and many laughs, I thought I would start out with a more experimental approach this year to critically analyze chocolate attributes. Our product testers were workers at GlobalSpec, the company that powers CR4.

Chocolate samples from a variety of different manufacturers were selected at random. The chocolate attributes evaluated included visual appeal, aroma (smell), touch (snap, feel against the fingers), taste, and texture. Chocolate parameters were rated from 1 – worst to 5 – best using a wide variety of male and female coworkers. The best chocolate for Valentine's Day based on evaluation of chocolate flavor attributes of the chocolate brands or manufacturers based on our tests and personal preferences are:

After further analysis and consulting with taste testers it was agreed that a great deal of additional "testing" was required to be statistically accurate and truly find the best chocolate for our Valentines.

Do you not see the graph? Vosges is looking like a cut above the rest.

I personally am a sucker for chocolate fondue. It doesn't have to be the best chocolate, but when you dip fruit (like strawberries) and rice krispy treats in it, it is so delicious.

I have been thinking about getting one of those chocolate fondue fountains.

Sounds like it would be a good idea.

mmmmm. heart heart you all for serving as experimental subjects (what a trial!). So Jaxy, what are the trans fat ratings on these chocolates?

You know I loooove chocolate but I do hate the trans fat.(seriously) I'd also like to know, is it present as an additive to preserve the chocolate, or is it attributed to the levels present in dairy..? (wishful thinking perhaps?)

Happy valentines CR4 staff, I know you suffered to bring us the data

Engineers always like tools, so chocolate loving tools should be a sure hit too.

Good idea!

I'm not good with metrics yet. Is that set also available in fractional sizes?

A bit late now but I found these as a feminine gift.

I was really looking for stories like this or this.
