Non-Stop Bullet Train Concept

Posted April 23, 2010 8:41 AM

From Neatorama:

A virtual high-five goes out to the engineer(s) that came up with this idea. As wonderfully fast as the bullet train is, all that stopping and starting takes time, which adds up. "A mere 5 min stop per station (elderly passengers cannot be hurried) will result in a total loss of 5 min x 30 stations or 2.5 hours of train journey time!"

Looks like they have...

Watch the video on the link - it looks really cool in the artist's impression. Bagsie not doing the risk assessment!

We didn't want to keep all those old Vicorian stations did we? Sure wouldn't be able to if we installed this concept.

I wonder if it can get up that incline you wrote about ao well....

I like the concept. Not only is it saving time for the passengers, it should save energy too. The only acceleration and decceleration would be the passengers and the boarding pod (or whatever it's called). No more accelerating and deccelerating the massive train.
