I'm interested in what specific current engines the MIT designs were based on. I'd like to know the thrust to weight ratios of these designs.

I'd be wary of aircraft that demand specific airport modifications. What are those modifications? Different Jetways?

I thought it was standard practice to design an aircraft according to the capabilities of available engines? Sure enough venerable designs will accept new engines, as has happened in the case of the DC3, or Beech 18.

Of course you can design some shape, and then ask somebody to make an engine that will make it fly, and it is not lost on me that the Wright Brothers had to make their own engine.

These days I was under the impression that GE, Westinghouse, Pratt and Whitney made engines and Boeing, and Airbus made aircraft using the engines.

Certainly there is "Fast Enough" and the Cessna Citation competing for the same market of the faster Learjet is proof of concept.

Just someone trolling the MIT website where they love to post futuristic and nonsense research. Actually İ designed an airliner that uses 100% less fuel - now if İ can just figure out how to get it off the ground!
