danbuk has been with GlobalSpec, where she is a Market Development Specialist, for nearly three years. She obtained a BS in Management with a concentration in Marketing from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

Tell me about yourself (major, college, work experience)

In college I majored in business with a concentration in marketing. Before coming to work at GlobalSpec I worked three summers at a house for mentally challenged individuals, where I would help them perform various everyday tasks and help with summer outings.

Favorite part about CR4?

There are many interesting topics covered on the CR4 site, so I like that I can learn about many subjects that are new to me.

One word that best describes you?

Quiet

How or from whom did you learn about CR4?

I learned about CR4 through GlobalSpec.

What are your hobbies?

I enjoy reading, movies, being outdoors, and sports. One of my favorite authors is James Patterson, especially his Alex Cross series. I love watching many different movies and also learning what went into making the movie. I am a pretty big sports fan. I played basketball for 12 years and have coached a youth team for the past 3 years. I also love watching football (Go Vikings!) and college basketball.

Favorite Song/Album?

I don't really have a favorite song or album but here are a couple artists that I enjoy:

  • Dave Matthews Band
  • Ingrid Michelson
  • Iron & Wine
  • Band of Horses

What are 5 things you can't live without?

  • Family
  • Friends
  • Books
  • Laptop
  • Car

Motto/Advice you live by?

"It's not about the destination you have reached, but the journey that took you there."

Favorite childhood memory?

This is something that I still do but all my favorite memories come from spending my summers at a lake in the Adirondacks with my friends and family. Boating, water sports, and reading on the beach during the day and camp fires at night.

Favorite color?

Pink

One word that best describes you?

Quiet

I should say so. One post to date.

Good to have you aboard. I am uncertain of admin policy, but I think most of us sort of enjoy a comment now and again from a moderator who is out 'on patrol'. That is, unless you are scolding me for feeding the trolls!

"I worked three summers at a house for mentally challenged individuals"

So CR4 is not actually a career change

Welcome

Welcome danbuk. I think 34.5 pretty well summed it up, we are all freaking nuts. Beware your sanity.

Is it me or does CR4 seem to recruit heavily from Rensselaer? Nothing against the school or anything, but diversity of thought and experience sometimes is a good thing....

A little about myself:

I have been working in various aspects of the oil and gas business for most of my 23 years of work, but I have done various other jobs as well: designing ruggedized computer chassis, managing a photoplotting service office, designing and maintaining steel mill equipment, even selling retail electronics when I was in college. About 6 years ago I was part of a team that was one of five finalists for the ASME Woeffel prize at OTC that year for a device to drill into and kill damaged subsea oil wells. A few years before that I was part of a team that was part of a pilot project for distributed electricity generation using PEM fuel cells and steam cracked natural gas for residential use. I've designed or worked on equipment for Boeing, NASA, United Space Alliance, Oceaneering Space Systems, Reliant Energy, Oceaneering, Sonsub, BP, FMC, Cudd Energy Services, Cameron, Transocean, Hydril, and many others.

I'm an information and news junkie and highly partisan. I can also be a real jerk when confronted with people I deem to be idiots (and unfortunately there are a few that inhabit the halls of CR4). I do not suffer fools gladly. Ya can't live with em, and ya can't kill em, so what is a man to do?

Thanks Rorschach. It certainly sounds like you have had a lot of interesting experiences during your career, especially being considered for the ASME Woeffel prize.

I am also an information and news junkie and what better place to find a lot of interesting topics than CR4
