E-Mail That Self Destructs

Posted June 24, 2010 10:05 AM

From Forbes.com: Technology News:

VaporStream, a product for confidential electronic communications, caused a bit of a stir when it was unveiled. When the VaporStream software is installed on a computer or a smartphone, messages disappear from the sender's computing device the minute they are sent and disappear from the recipient's device the moment they are read or replied to. It's not really e-mail, or at least not standard e-mail, although the software is available as a plug-in to Outlook and other e-mail clients.

Sounds like a nightmare.
Important E-mail comes in, the cursor happens to be somewhere near it in the inbox..outlook decides you've opened it, and poof..there it was gone, marked as read and duly evaporated. What a crock of shite, don't these muppets have some sensible software to write?

Smartphone? My arse...

Exactly! There's already a tool that performs this same vanishing e-mail function. It's called "sending it to Management".

Now Dell, don't get your tail in a twist! The software was probably designed by your government or mine so that their covert operations wouldn't be compromised.

For people (or management) who cannot be bothered (or don't know how to) delete their read messages.

The target market for this product just need to learn to accept that they and their work are really not as important as they think.

Looks to me like the perfect tool for global warming scientists who are telling each other which data to publish and which data to suppress and leave no evidence of their communication
