I hope they don't think that , by demoting Pluto as a planet, they're not obligued anymore to studying and clasifying the whole bunch of other "dwarf planets". If so, what a shame !!

when man first walked upright and looked up at the moon, i am pretty sure he noticed it had been hit several times. Either that, or he really thought it was made of swiss cheese.

does it really matter to the us economy or its citizens how much sand is on the moon. Most cant afford to go to the beaches here, let alone any resort planned there.

They are making an error of assumption, assuming that the most densely impacted areas are the oldest.

Has anyone ever seen a asteroid hit the moon? With as often as the Moon seems to be pelted, someone should have seen it hit sometime.

As I understand it, the same events that pelted the moon, also created the asteroid belt, put water on the moon and mars, and terminated the dinosaurs (and most life on earth) and moved the earth-moon orbit far more toward the sun. It used to be out where the asteroid belt is. (called the 'hammered bracelet' in ancient times) Sitchin

As in the asteroid belt was a planet and Mars its moon. In one massive event it pummeled mars and our moon and created all our comets whizzing around the solar system....

Never heard the speculation that Earth was outside the Martian orbit.

Astronomer Dr. Tom Van Flandren (SP?) has some pretty concise theories around the idea that the asteroid belt was a planet. I'm familiar with Zacharia Sitchin too...

Neither have I... where did you get that?

I'm sure that this theory is not that popular with mainstream astronomer's, and Sitchin as been proposing it since the 70's... so it isn't new... I just happen to think it explains everything, and coincides with ancient traditions.

Honestly it has been a while since I was there... I thought it was inside.. but I see that you are right... astronomers put it outside..
