The move towards energy-efficiency has users and suppliers
in the process industry considering how rising energy costs and regulatory
pressure will change facilities in the future. In regard to pump
technologies, which can account for 20-25% of energy consumed in the process
sector, it's estimated that that better selection and use of technology could
save 14 billion kWh per year.
Christoph Pauly, a spokesman for
pumps manufacturer KSB, believes that the wider availability and use of
pumps-selection software will allow users to better select the pumps for their
operations. Using this software to better match proper parameters, operating
conditions, and speed control amongst other specifications will help reduce
energy consumed.
