The Water/Wastewater Infrastructure: Challenges Loom

Posted August 09, 2015 12:00 AM by Engineering360 eNewsletter

The 2015 State of the Waster Industry Report was introduced at the recent American Water Works Association's Annual Conference and Exposition. Flow Control magazine summarizes the report and provides a link where readers can download (registration required) the entire 60-plus pager. An overriding question discussed: as water use declines due to conservation programs, how can utilities afford needed infrastructure upgrades? Among survey findings: the health of the industry scores a 4.5 on a scale from 1 to 7, down from 4.6 in 2014; and 11% of utility personnel believe their utility will "be challenged" to meet long-term water supply needs, up from 10% in 2014.
