Sledding Behind a Fighter Jet

Posted December 16, 2010 11:26 AM

From Neatorama:

This video allegedly shows three men on sleds being towed by a Swedish Air Force fighter jet. As it prudently warns at the end, don't try this at home with your own jet.

Wow! This pretty much tops the antics we discussed on "The Dangerous Stupid Stuff You Did As A Kid" thread.

Looks like fun... wish I had thought of it!

I guess I must be evil. I can't help but picture the jet taking off, just to freak those guys out.

I think that throttling up the engine would simply roast them, nomex suits or not.

Only in tight turns

But OH&S wise; you would want a quick release on the sled end of the rope - like just in case the pilot decided to do a circuit.

Jaxy said sledding is dangerous, but the ground is level, there aren't any close trees, and they are wearing helmets. So I guess it's OK.

"C'mon kids!!!"

Level Ground. Check.

No Trees. Check.

Helmets. Check.

I think you are good to go!

I like the don't try this at home warning.

How many of us have a jet at home to try this with?

I think the bass guitar riff from the James Bond movies should have been used as the background music.

Hey Unredundant, I always figured that the Swedes would be using Mackerel oil (or Eel oil?) instead of JP in their jets. Ohhhh heck, maybe even Cod liver oil? Ackkkkk, can you imagine the stench, like it was a fishing trawler on fire? Heeeehhheeeehheee....

Better yet, fire that puppy up with some водка!!!!!

Agree with 34point that it would have been nice to see the Viggin launch and do a few laps around the field....it sure has some nice STOL characteristics!

[oh, never mind, time to get outta here tonight and finally finish the stack of Christmas cards! Baahhh Hummmmmbuuuggggg! LOL]
