In Battle of the Bulbs, One Based on TV Tubes

The phosphors used in CFLs are similar to the phosphors used in CRTs. I know of no phosphor, or set of phosphors, that produces a planckian black body curve at about 3000 Kelvin like an incandescent lamp produces. There are phosphor sets that will produce a warm glow like an incandescent lamp (similar in color, but different in overall spectral output) -- in fact I have some CFLs in my house that look very similar in color to incandescent lamps -- but they are not black body radiators.

Oh, and CRTs have leaded glass in front of the phosphor screens to minimize x-ray emissions. These lamps...?

Just more hype.

Interesting but I cannot find test reports and photometric data backing up their 'marketing' claims.

My two cents...

CRI of >85 is a far cry from the CRI of 99 found in an incandescent lamp.

Halogen lamps give you more lumens.

'Unpleaant glare from compact flourescent light bulbs'? don't all lamps give you umpleasant glare? since when is glare good?

This is a Johnny-come-lately technology, might have worked a few years ago.
