Posted May 17, 2011 12:27 PM

From EE Times:

We've written in the past couple months about job satisfaction and "happiness" (loosely defined), and it was suggested in a comment that we push the conversation into issues of age and potential workplace or hiring discrimination. So here we go. Many of you have probably heard stories from peers or experienced some form of age discrimination, particularly if you are north of 40 years old. I am just south of 60 but I can still detect a sucking sound here, as faint as it might be. This ability, some call it wisdom, is the biggest hindrance for the seniors in their different fields of expertise, or so it is made believed. It can suck being rejected but in a competitive world who would expect otherwise?

The ability to be tolerant towards stupidity decreases at the same time so it looks like a lose=lose. I just hope its not. Throwing in the towel? With so much at stake! For some of us a life's work. With still so much to learn! Not only for me but for the smallest child as well. The joy of succeeding is the engine, never mind the age of the participant.

Would I employ myself?

I have so much work to do, Ky.
