Philips patents furry display technology

Posted April 23, 2007 3:23 PM

From SCI FI Tech:

You know, I've been saying for years that my TV just isn't as furry as I'd like it to be. I'm glad a major consumer electronics company has finally stopped treating me like some sort of crackpot and realized that I'm actually a brilliant soothsayer who can tell exactly what the future of technology holds. It holds fur, and lots of it! Philips has just applied for a patent for furry displays, in which each pixel is it's own tiny piece of fabric. The technology would allow for soft, plush displays, paving the way for video clothing and stuffed animals. I'm not sure if and when we'll see this stuff in action, but I for one am glad that we may finally be able to watch TV on the back of someone's sweater. It seems like so many people have been clamoring for it for so long, it's amazing it's taken this long to be developed.

Hay, I could tile the undercoating of my car paint with these furry displays and then cover them with a couple layers of clear paint and be able to show any multicolored static and/or animated paturn. Flames! Smoke! Lava! Clouds! Spiderwebs! Tropical Sunsets! Arctic Moonsets! Wild Animal Faces! Babes in Bikinis! =)

Oh ya, it's furry. :/

Well then, maby not.

Tie in the display on the back of the car with a camera on the front, and obtain invisibility.
