As I reconsider, there are two possible reasons. Either one of these presents an unsavory scenario.

there would have to be 5 - 8 years grace before anyone gets to a state of readiness that would enable them to twirl their six shooter ?

Navy just finished the first aircraft carrier and they will need a few years to take that for a drive , train a crew and get off their learners license

I reckon the political muscle men in China are smart enough to learn from all the dumb wars in recent history ( last 50 years )

It is sad that China has had much suffering in their history but there would be many people very proud of the great economic growth being enjoyed by them now.

Who would fail to learn from the suffering and stuff ups that war has always been ?

China is smarter than that . they dont need to prove anything . they can sail on in pursuit of economic excellence and be successful doing it right ?

I personally think war would be destructive to their economic and social interests.

I raise my glass to those with the wisdom to learn from past suffering and create a better world in front of them through honest hard work , cultivation of intellectual and spiritual virtues and propagation of positive merits.

Work with the Chinese in China for a while and you will find out several things which will make you much less afraid of the future (if you are a Westener worried about the predominance of Western power.)

China is just putting the finishing touches on their first aircraft carrier. I know through channels that they can't figure out how to make the arresting hook for landing planes on it!

I like the Chinese they are smart, funny and cool. World class manufacturing? Not yet.
